Skype

I downloaded and installed Skype recently, and have become so impressed with it, I think it's gonna become one of my most useful internet tools.

The idea behind Skype is to be a service for people to "call" each other over the internet using a pair of speakers and a microphone (and a webcam if you or they have one), Simple, and it costs nothing at all, all you need for it to work well is a broadband connection. However what sets Skype apart is their SkypeOut, SkypeIn and Voicemail services. SkypeOut enables you to call a normal phone or landline, at a cost per minute of Euro€0.017, and to use the service you buy credit, just like you would on a pay as you go mobile phone. SkypeIn is a brilliant idea, as it give people without Skype the chance to call you on Skype from a normal landline or mobile, to your SkypeIn number which works like a normal phone line, and gives you voicemail. Also their voicemail service is useful as well - it works just like a phone voicemail, takes messages when you are busy, and is free with a SkypeIn Number.

All in all if you have not got Skype, get it, as it will change the way you speak to friends, and will save you money on phone calls, especiallyy if you have friends in other countries!
